RVing Tip of the Day

Buying tips for new RVers
by Chuck Woodbury
Here are six quick tips to new RVers about buying a first RV:
Tip #1: Above all, do your homework. That means taking lot of time researching your purchase. Don’t buy on impulse.
Tip #2: Attend an RV show or two. These are great places to compare RVs before you buy. You will quickly rule out RVs you don’t like and begin to narrow the list of those you do. When you are ready to make your purchase, you may find an especially good deal at an RV show.
Tip #3: Rent an RV. Whether for a weekend or a month, you’ll get a good idea of whether or not you enjoy the RV lifestyle. You’ll have a chance to meet with other RVers, too, who will eagerly share their opinions of their RVs.
Tip #4: Spend a lot of time reading online forums about RVing. Once you begin to narrow down your potential choice of an RV or even its manufacturer, submit questions to forum members asking what they think.
Tip #5: Sign up for the RVtravel.com newsletter. I edit this weekly online publication. I guarantee you will learn a lot by reading it. And the price is right: free! Sign up at RVtravel.com.
Tip #6: Get a copy of the RV Buyers Guide. This bi-annual guide lists hundreds of RVs with all their specifications — height, weight, fuel capacity, hitch weight, engines, slide outs, construction, holding tank capacities, accessories, retail price and even illustrations of floor plans. It costs about $8. You can order it from RVbookstore.com.
These are just a few tips. The most important when it comes right down to it is — take your time. An RV is a big investment. Don’t mess up and be sorry later.

About smokeycamping

Well let's see have lived in NY for my whole life, have always loved the outdoors (as long as it is warm out) have always hated the cold, and like a dummy have stayed in NY. But now with my second try my wife, we have been camping now for well over 25 yrs. We currently own a 2010 Cedar creek silverback 35TS and can not wait to get out on the highways and see this great country we all call home. Hope to see every National park before my medical issue becomes too bad to travel. I love my African gray parrot (she is my baby) and have two dogs at the time brother and sister mutts, but love them all the same. Have always been a big Nascar fan, love computers (have a number of certificates to build and work on them) am trying to learn photography, enjoy light hiking, being with good friends and folks. country music, pop music and just being outdoors. So I hope someday to meet some of the great people who like what I like and post out there in some great campground somewhere in the country, till then I will keep posting and I hope you keep liking.
