MANCHESTER, Tenn. — Cell Sign Technologies today introduced a new monitoring system designed for recreation vehicles that sends a text message alert to RV owners to warn them when potentially harmful situations exist in their RVs.
The SimPal-T2 GSM Temperature Alerter uses a cell phone SIM card that plugs into a wall socket and monitors interior temperatures or the temperature inside a refrigerator or water heater. When the temperatures rises or falls above user-determined levels, the system sends a text message to the RVer’s phone advising of the problem.
“This is ideal for people who travel with pets,” said Eric Casebolt, with Cell Sign Technologies. “If the air conditioner goes out, the owners receive a text message alert and can return to their campsites right away to correct the problem or take care of their pets.”
The device is also helpful for RV service technicians who are troubleshooting problems, he added. The system helps them monitor air conditioners and refrigerators, then alert them when a particular condition is present. For example, if a technician is fixing an RV refrigerator, the system can text him when the desired cooling level is attained so the technician doesn’t have to keep running back and forth between units to gauge progress.
Cell Sign Technology is working in partnership with T-Mobile to use their SIM cards, which work on cell phone systems nationwide. As long as the RV is within range of a cell tower, the device will be able to send text alerts. The texts can be received by any cell phone, regardless of providers.
The company also offers a line of security systems that send text messages when intrusions or other problems are detected.
